Beer 320: Fuller
Beer 257: Sea Dog Wild Blueberry

Fruit in my beer doesn’t always thrill me. I like beer for the beer taste, and adding distinctly non-beer taste doesn’t improve my experience. It just kind of makes it taste like Fruity Pebbles. Or more accurately, like I am eating Fruity Pebbles cereal, but instead of milk, I used a wheat beer.

Beer 258: Kirin Ichiban

I promise this is the last of the ultra-mediocre beers. For a while at least. Kirin Ichiban is a striaghtforward not frills lager. It is a little malty and has little not no hop flavor.

Beer 250: Leffe Brown

This is a nice sweet brown Belgian ale. Some browns can be a little lackluster, but this one holds its own pretty well. It has rich caramel malts and a slight, yet pleasant, hazelnut flavor. Sets a standard for brown ales, in my opinion.

Beer 232: Wells & Young’s Brewing Co. Wells Bombardier

I should have done this beer Monday or Sunday as a feature for “cheap beer for the barbecue” but I didn’t think about it. Also this beer is not super-cheap, but at a little less than a dollar per 15 oz. can, is some of the cheaper beer I normally come across. (Humblebrag, I guess?)

Anyway, the beer is not bad for the price. It is a little light, but not at the cost of a respectable 5.2% ABV. The Bombardier is a tad sweet and a tad bitter. It kind of reminds me of a Heineken, if that means anything, but a much more amtured, respectable Heineken. Still, if you wanted to spend six dollars on beer, I would opt for a pint bottle of something a little nicer. Beer should be about quality, not quantity.

Beer 236: Beer Valley Black Flag Imperial Stout

This beer makes burnt and smokey taste like fresh spring water. I imagine the brewers approach to this beer went something like this:

Brewmaster: It’s just not BLACK ENOUGH!

Brewing Disciple 1: We have brought the blacket ingredients we know, sir.

Brewing Disciple 2: Yes, we are unaware of anything we could do to make this beer any blacker, sir.

Brewmaster: That’s it! We have only explored the black thing we know, the black things we had at hand. But there is more out there, blacker darker things. We must find them. We must go forth into the world and find the blackest ingredients in whatever dark dim corners of the world they may hide. Go my Disciples, find the blackest of the black!

Host of Brewing Disciples: YES, SIR!

**The brew host than went out into the world and for ten long years seached every nook and cranny of the world until they brought back the darkest malts, the blackest coffee, the bitterest cacao. They assembled the darkest group dark ingredients and brought them back to their brewmaster in Ontario, Oregon and concocted the darkest beer to be brewed.**

At least that is how I imagine it. But seriously, the beer is stout and dark. I actually held a flashlight up to the the beer glass I was drinking and didn’t see a hint of light come through. A really impressive beer.
